  1. There’s an old movie about the Oregon Trail where the pioneers come to a big divide. The movie showed the people having to take their wagons apart and use many ropes to get their wagon parts and personal things down the steep sides of that canyon. I was probably just out of high school when I saw it, but, that one scene has never left my memory. When I taught the Oregon Trail, I always told the kids about that scene. If I would have had the movie, I would have shown it in my classroom. It gave me a respect for the early pioneers that I couldn’t have gotten from a book. I’d give anything if I knew the name of the movie. What you are doing will also bring the Oregon Trail to life for YOUR students!
